Its been a long time...

So I knew I was being a bad blogger when April was able to post two blogs since my last. I have been busy, but my busy doesn't compare to April's busy right now. Sorry to those waiting to see new pictures of Asher!

About a week and a half ago we had to take Asher to his first emergency room visit. The poor guy fell on a toy and split his tongue on the right side. There was lots of blood and lots of screaming. I had always heard parents say that accidents happen even when you are right next to them, I wasn't sure how that worked but now I know. He fell and just hit his head. There was nothing I could do but scoop him up and hold him.

We decided to take him in to see if he needed stitches because the cut was pretty nasty. The good Lord was looking out for us because we walked right in and saw a doctor within 10 minutes. They felt that because he was so young they were not going to stitch his tongue. So 10 minutes later we were back in the car with strict instructions to not let him put anything in his mouth except food. Ummmm.....how do you do that with a teething 8 month old?? We did our best and today his tongue is healed but you can tell where he cut it. I am praying that in time it will go back to normal. Sometimes you can see it very well other times you can't see it at all.

Asher was so brave through the whole thing! The only time he cried was when it happened. He didn't even cry when there was four people standing over him with a flashlight playing with his bleeding tongue. He handled it a lot better than I would have!

Other than that Asher has been growing and learning new things. He is talking a lot! He walks with you if you hold his hands. He LOVES music!!! If its musical he plays with it. Which is such a shock to Ry and I because..well..if you know us then you know why. He plays really well with other kids but he hasn't learned not to take toys from other kids. He thinks, like every other kid, if I want the toy I will just grab it no matter who's playing with it.

His hair color is the same as mine now. Unfortunately it has been thinning. I am praying that he is just growing out of his baby hair and that his real hair will be thick like his moms and dads. I have to give him a hair cut again because it is just out of control!

We have had a great couple of weeks because Ry had some time off of work. Asher just loves hanging out with dad. It was so sad this morning when Ry left because Asher cried:( He got over it pretty quick but it was so cool to see how much Asher already loves his daddy.

This weekend I am going on a woman's bible retreat so Ryan will be on 24/7 dad duty. He is pretty excited and I know the boys will have lots of fun. I will miss them though!

I think that's it from here. Here are some pictures, they were taken the day after the accident and you can see the injury. Enjoy your week!

A baby is born!

I'm very late in reporting this.....but.....April had her little girl! Most of you probably already know this. Ashlyn was born on June 11. She shares her birthday with my dad! How funny is that? My dad is now exactly 133 years older that Ashlyn....wait that doesn't right...

We are so proud of April, she gave birth with no meds!! Ryan joked that she can now be in our no meds club. She actually almost gave birth in her car. Her story is pretty amazing and we just thank the Lord that he kept her and the baby safe. Visit her blog if you get a chance and read her awesome birth story! Congratulations April, we can't wait to meet her;)

Asher has been saying "momma" and "dadda" for about a week now. He doesn't know what they mean, but I'm sure he'll figure it out soon enough. For now its cute to hear him say it. He is growing really tall. He's over 28 inches tall. He is tall and lean, just like his parents. He eats as much food as he can get his hands on. April said he had a hollow leg, just like his parents;)

He's able to stand without any help and stay there for about 30 seconds before he falls. He gets in to pretty much everything (which kid doesn't?) and is growing so fast.

I will take more pictures and post them as soon as I can. He is looking more like Ryan. Ryan couldn't be happier!

Have a great week! God Bless!!

Life is Beautitful!

Asher decided last week that he would start walking while holding on to things (see below for the evidence). Ryan and I were pretty excited and then we realized that it may not be such a good thing. Now he is able to get into even more stuff!
His favorite thing to do is to stand at his gate. We will try to get him to play with us in his room but he would rather stand at the gate and shake it. His new thing is to take a toy and run it across the bars.
Today he made his dad very proud; he played with a five pound weight! I promised my dad we would wait until he was a year old until we had him work out, but it looks like Asher couldn't wait;)

Its a beautiful day so we took Asher to the playground and went down the slide a couple of times. He smiled at the beginning but wasn't quite sure once we got going. There's not much he can do right now but soon he will be climbing all over that thing. Its so exciting to think of the future but its sad to see him grow up.

On another note, I entitled this Life is Beautiful because..... its true! I just enjoy spending time with my family and the Lord! I'm loving every minute of this life and I hope you are all too. There is also a movie called Life is Beautiful and if you haven't seen it, you should! Its an amazing story about a father and son. God Bless you all! Enjoy your weekend, and if you want, leave a comment about how your life is beautiful!

What a difference a haircut makes!

Before we went to AL I cut Ashers hair. I knew it was time when I was getting more comments about what a "pretty girl" he was. The last straw was when the pediatrician called him a girl; don't they look at the charts beforehand??? Anyways since I cut his hair not one person has called him a girl! Yeah! So here are the before and afters:

Pay no attention to all of the computer mess on the last pic!

Asher feel asleep one day in a weird position so I snapped a pic:
Asher has gotten really good at standing at his gate, rattling it and screaming. That is his favorite thing to do in his room. He could care less about the toys or us.
I love his face in the second picture!

Sweet Home Alabama....

Asher and I were able to go visit April in Alabama. We had the best time! April is 9 months pregnant and I was really hoping I would get to meet Ashlyn before we left. That's OK though, that just means they have to come out to us before the end of the year!

Asher grew leaps and bounds with Preston around showing him the ropes. It was so neat to see them interact. Preston was so so sweet with Asher and it just made me smile.

April is always a wonderful host. She made us feel welcome and comfortable. We talked and ate as much food as possible. I was able to meet her friends, and boy is she lucky;) They are all wonderful people.

It was nice to see grass and trees again! They have a beautiful home and they live in a beautiful area. I was able to see Pete for two days which was great. Asher just loved Pete and couldn't get enough of him. Poor Pete had two boys competing for his attention. He did a great job entertaining them both! I just can't say enough nice things about the visit.

We did have to stay an extra day because my flight was delayed and they wanted me to spend 8 hours in an airport. I'm pretty sure they were crazy! We stayed an extra day so I could get better flights.

Asher is now pulling himself up on everything and standing. We are in a lot of trouble! He is eating lots of food and has even started on the gerber snacks (thanks april!). He has his high chair now (thanks grammy!) and its much easier to feed him. I found out that he likes the big boy toys (thanks preston!) so Ry and I had to go to Target and buy some more toys for him. April will be getting a package full of baby toys very soon;) He is getting very vocal. If you don't feed him fast enough he yells at you. He is teething like crazy, so we may see some teeth very soon. There is more but I can't think of it right now.

I will post more today or tomorrow because I have pics and video to share.

Thank you April, Pete and Preston for a wonderful visit!!!!

A lot has happened!

I haven't written in a while because things have been soooo busy here. Asher has changed so much in the past two weeks. Its madness! Two weeks ago on a wednesday Asher just decided he was going to start sitting unassisted. So now he can sit all by himself without being propped up. He also started crawling around the same time. Below is a video of him in the first couple of days of crawling. Now he is like lightning! He has so much energy, its tiring! He just goes and goes and goes.

He has been eating more and more food. He can now eat avocados, bananas, apples and sweet potatos. His favorite is apples. If we don't feed him apples fast enough he yells at us!

He has also been pulling himself up and standing. Yesterday I watched as he pulled himself up by the couch and was trying to grab a toy off of it. I am just loving watching him figure things out.

He is still teething but no teeth:( I can't wait for this to be over.

We are leaving tomorrow to go see April in AL. We are very excited! Please pray that Asher does well on the planes. I am just hoping that he sleeps and plays quietly. I bet you are all laughing about now...... Anyways I will get to see Preston again (YEAH!) and April will get to meet Asher (YEAH!). I will take lots of video and pictures and report on how much fun we had.

I will be posting photos later today. We are going to cut Ashers hair. Its a must! He keeps getting called a girl, even wearing all blue. When he has a hat on there is no issues. His hair is just so long. I will do before and after so you can see the transformation.

Thats it for now! Check back for those pictures!

Videos!

So I finally had the time (and patience) to load these videos! The first is of Asher trying to crawl. I know he's my son but isn't he just so cute!! The second is his first bite of food. He started on avocado's today. He seems to be ok with eating food. Just like everything else you can't tell if he likes it or hates, he just does it without any expression. Enjoy everyone!
